Video Editing Practice Reflection

    Video Editing Practice Reflection

10/29/25

The process of learning how to use the Adobe Premiere Pro Software was definitely a steep learning curve! I had to watch videos that detailed various step-by-step guides that taught the basics on how to use the editing software. I learned a few things, including how to import my media, how to organize my media, how to create new sequences, how to manipulate and add "SoundBites" to the timeline, and how to add the lower thirds into the video. While creating the clip, it was a bit of a challenge at first. The user interface seemed intimidating and intricate, and there were so many different factors at play and obstacles in the way. I would say the hardest challenge that I faced while trying to edit my clips was tinkering with the audio. Some clips were louder than others, and melding the clips together seemed unnatural due to this. On top of this, understanding when and how to implement B-rolls was a bit difficult. Without proper B-rolls, the video can seem a bit choppy and flow sporadically. But with enough guidance, I was able to pull through! I had some smoother runs with editing as well. Organizing my media, adding "Soundbites", creating new sequences, and adding low thirds were all fun and engaging experiences! With all these ups and downs that come with editing, I think I've learned how to really manage and meld different clips together, even if it may seem overwhelming at first. Additionally, the whole process was fun and exciting, especially adding the lower thirds onto a specific clip! The process allowed for creative thinking and freedom, while also teaching me the basics on how to operate such an intricate editing software. With these newfound skills, I think I'll be able to apply them onto future portfolio projects. I believe skills such as importing and exporting media, creating new sequences, and adjusting audio, will all prove to be imperative in the face of future editing projects in this course.

This is the audio adjustment interface I had trouble operating!

The timeline was a bit tedious to manage and navigate, but I managed.
